How does the nurse triage service work?
-
A patient calls your practiceWhen a patient calls your practice, Front Desk answers according to your established call-handling protocols. Routine messages can continue through your normal workflow. When a patient has a medical concern requiring clinical evaluation, the request can be escalated to our nurse triage service.
-
A registered nurse handles the callA registered nurse appropriately licensed for the patient’s location follows up with the patient, assesses their symptoms and concerns using established clinical protocols, and provides guidance on the appropriate level of care.
-
Timely guidance is given to the patient from a registered nurseDepending on the situation, that may include home-care guidance, recommending follow-up with the patient’s provider, facilitating an eligible prescription refill request, or directing the patient to more immediate medical care.
Support your patients and your staff
After-hours medical calls can create a difficult choice: interrupt an on-call provider for every concern or leave patients unsure about what to do next.
Front Desk Nurse Triage provides another option.
